What does “private label” mean?
“Private label” is the terms used to indicate when a product is manufactured for sale under the name of the retailer rather than the name of the manufacturer. We are a private label skincare and personal care manufacturer. That means all products manufactured by us can be branded with our clients’ names. “Private label” is also called “white label” or “own label”.
What are the advantages of engaging a private label manufacturer?
It is both time and cost effective. You can have your own range of products available within weeks, instead of having to go through months or years of product development, testing and registering. Not to mentioned that you can avoid all the costs associated with the process. Working with a private label manufacturer also allows you to refine your product and packaging in a timely manner to keep up to the ever-changing consumer demands. This is something that large global manufacturers cannot do.
Are there any disadvantages?
You will be highly dependent on your private label manufacturer. If there is any mismanagement by the manufacturer in production, you are technically liable for the consequences. Therefore, it is crucial that you work with the right and reliable manufacturer.
How do I choose the right private label manufacturer and minimise the risks?
Do a thorough research on the manufacturer. Always ask to visit the factory and check them our. Do they operate in compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standard? Can they provide all the necessary legal and regulatory documentation? Avoid suppliers that are not actually manufacturers themselves. Some companies simply buy low cost products which they later rebrand.

If there is Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
It usually depends on the product and its formulation. Different product will be processed by different machines. As a guideline, 125KG and above per item would usually be the smallest economically viable batch size. Smaller runs are possible. However, the cost escalates drastically due to the same set up costs being spread over a smaller number of units.

Can you tell me more about your manufacturing efficiency?
With a wastage between 3-5%, depending on the pack format, our production yield is consistently at or above the industry norm. This will also vary based on the specific packaging and formulation as well as the size of the production run per SKU. In some instances, our efficiency can be as high as 99% on high volume runs.
How big is your ingredients suppliers network? How many ingredients do you stock?
After more than 20 years in business, we have cultivated a wide-network of trusted ingredients suppliers in Asia and beyond. The amount of ingredients we stock varies month on month. We handle our raw materials in strict compliance to industry best practice. We also work closely with our clients to minimise the cost of obsolescence.
What is your sourcing/procurement process like?
We have a dedicated procurement team to oversee all the procurement needs. It is made up of experts with many years of experience in the field. Our team also takes proactive steps to keep close relationships with our ingredients suppliers to ensure efficiency of the process. For packaging, we also have a design team who stand ready cater to your needs.
What are your turnaround times, from approved formula to production and delivery?
At times, it depends on the availability of the ingredients. However, if all raw materials are ready on day one itself, we can offer quick turnaround time between 10-14 days.
Will you be able to produce using our own formula and ingredients?
Yes. As long as the ingredients provided are registered under the Ministry of Health Malaysia, we will be able to assist with the production.
